Join author and producer Birgitte Rasine on Saturday, April 2 at Dandelion Chocolate on Valencia Street in San Francisco for a delicious morning of fun, exploration, and learning about the fascinating history and mythology of cacao, arguably the world's most beloved food.
This event is designed for both kids and adults. We start at 11am with an informal chat with Birgitte about her upcoming middle grade novel, The Jaguar and the Cacao Tree , which VIPs in the chocolate business are calling "mesmerizing" and "a strong contender for the best title in the last 5 years."
At 11:30 we take the kids upstairs for a playful exploration of chocolate, its biology, history and the creation myths of the Mesoamerican cultures that developed this amazing food. (Bring your favorite crayons or coloring pencils if you like, because there will be coloring!) At 12:15 we repeat the session with the second group of children, so be sure to indicate which session you're signing up for. Limit 10 children per session so sign up soon!
Important note: When signing up for the sessions, please only register your kids, not yourself, so the system can track the number of children signed up accurately. Parents do not need a "ticket" to come to the venue. You can also drop your kids off, but be sure to be back at Dandelion to pick them up when their session ends.
We will also have copies of The Jaguar and the Cacao Tree on hand so be sure to reserve yours now for signing at the event. (California sales tax is already included in the price of the book)
