An Invitation from Rev. R. M. Peluso

Posted in: News & New Product Press

Iwould like to invite friends atThe Chocolate Life to visit my Facebook Group: Chocolate Tasting Meditation (CM) tm. The group page is to promote meditation through tasting, to improve tasting skills through enhanced focus and to discuss additional benefits that can be achieved through this conscious approach tochocolate. I share with Clay and others the view that chocolate consumption, and the cultivation and production of chocolate, have spiritual and ecological implications that can benefit humanity in many ways. What begins as "indulgence"can elevate to an experience that raises the tasting bar, deepens inner peace, and aids local economies and our fragile ecosystems.

Gratitude & blessings,

Rev. R. M. Peluso

Chocolate, language, and thought: A pilot study

Posted in: Opinion

1, I agree that the Chuo is one of the best, impreccably crafted, but I have to distinguish between percentage of cacao. I've had a 90 percent bar that was stunning. YOu cannot compare apples and pears. For me, the best is always dark and always around 70% or higher...rarely above 82%...2, I do my serious tasting in my home, here at my desk. So, no, no romantic location. I totally focus on the tasting experience.3. My intention...open minded, curious.Emily...are you in PA? I think we spoke once by email.

Chocolate Tasting Meditation (tm)

Posted in: Allow Me to Introduce Myself

It's been much too long since I've had a chance to enjoy TCL website. I enjoyed Clay's trip to Paris and so many comments by those starting businesses. Starting a chocolate company? What a journey that is!I thought I should reintroduce myself and see if any of you would be interested in sponsoring one of my Chocolate Tasting Meditations(tm). I'm an Interfaith minister with over three decades of experience in various forms of meditation. While on the staff of the Interfaith Spiritual Community and Community of Peace and Spirituality in NYC, I began leading short meditations using dark chocolate. Tasting meditation not only helps people who think they cannot meditate to learn, it also helps tasters to focus. The result is more discriminating chocolate consumers as well as better concentration, less stress and enhanced spirituality. I led one of my meditations at the Chocolate Salon in San Francisco (you can google me) and would like to do more shows. Various chocolate makers have sponsored me in the past. If any chocolate makers at TCL would like to sponsor me for future shows, I'm an experienced public speaker and can introduce your product to audiences in a unique way. Note that not all chocolate products are appropriate for the meditations. But contact me and we can discusss it. Email me at artoftheceremony@aol.com ...oh, yes, if anyone would like me to perform a wedding or other ceremony with a chocolate theme, I can do that too.Gratitude & blessings,Rev. R. M. Looking for sources in New York City for article about chocolate

Posted in: News & New Product Press

Sorry, I just saw your request. I often show up with chocolate, as you say. However, I don't think I do this to show off, but to share. I do some reviewing/rating for forthcoming chocolcate website. But my most important relationship to chocolate is to promote spiritual practice.Rev. R. M. Travel Planning - Where Would YOU Like to Go?

Posted in: Travels & Adventures

Although I'm a Spanish speaker, Madagascar interests me due to concerns about its ecology. But any Latin country is of interest to me. I've spent some time in Mexico in my pre-chocolate days, but never Oaxaca or Chiapas.I'd be happy to contribute my Chocolate Tasting Meditations or CM (tm) on one of these trips or at any chocolate show or event. In the past, Scharffen Berger and others have sponsored my meditations. This would add a retreat & restorative dimension to the tour too, a chance to de-stress as well as develop tasting skills.I'd be interested in talking to any chocolate producers, distributors or retailers who'd like to sponsor me.Something else of possible interest: I create original ceremonies to bless the launching of new businesses...I'd be happy to create blessings for new crops too. ...Gratitude & blessings to you all,Rev. Weird Flavors and Inclusions in Chocolate

Posted in: Tasting Notes

I'm not big on flavored chocolate, but I tasted some white and black truffle oil ganaches in dark chocolate, also olive oil ganaches in Montreal by Genevieve Grandbois. Until reading your column here, I thought that was pretty far out. Some of the combinations described in the comments...I dunno.
