Bean to Bar event in NYC's Soho
My first chocolate meet up was met with many chocolate enthusiasts in a Soho art gallery, a fitting place for the fine variety of chocolates and large photos that covered the walls. After testing many of the samples, we gathered for a presentation by Dr. Kristy Leissie, whose book Chocolate Planet is a memoir of traveling around the world studying the history and present of the cocoa trade routes. Enjoyed meeting fellow chocolate lovers The pictures tell the story.
RoxanneThe photographer did a fantastic job, because I was starting to salivate about halfway through!Sure would be fun to be in N.Y. to attend one of these gatherings! I'm not aware of any in these parts, but admittedly have not looked. Been completely focused on getting my site up and active, and chomping at the bit to get more involved with growers in Ecuador as a start. I will be very interested in Kristy's book. Should be unique.
Clay,Yes, I met her at the NY Meetup last week, Kamini was there too. Thanks for the follow up, would like to get the book as well.
There is no obvious way to contact Kristy her on her blog (a major oversight). Was the NY Meetup you attended organized by Kamini Reddy? I know Kamini and can get in touch with DocChoc that way.
Hi Mark, I found out the book has not been released yet, contact her on her blog. http://www.docofchoc.blogspot.com/
Hi, I did not find this book by Kristy. Looked her up and she is affiliated with Theo... by the way, the photo of the drinking chocolate next to Kristy is a picture of my grandmothers Mexican majolica brownware drinking chocolate cup. That photo must have been cribbed off of my former shop's website - Kakawa Chocolate House... I am no longer affiliated or the owner of Kakawa...Let me know where I can get Kristys book...
