There are several different cocoa hybrids that have been developed in Australia over the past 10 or so years, including several developed in the original Government/Cadbury trials. But more recently, our source of new cocoa stock is directly from the East New Britain area of Papua New Guinea. We have been continuously researching a wide range of things including varietals and growing conditions, since some of our growers experienced reducing yields. Our nursery is stocked with seedstock from PNG at the present time, and is growing healthily, with 2 new growers planting their first trees this month.
