I'm interested in learning more about cacao farming in PR,
I visited a farm there last month and have been researching a bit more of the information I should have gotten if my Spanish was better
I have not learned yet what the derivations of the TARS numbered cultivars are, or the UF668 that were the subjects of the research done in Mayaguez where I see that you visited. It seems that they are likely from the CATIE project in Cota Rica, that seems to be all Forestero.
If you can shed some light or if you have updated contact information on the program I'd appreciate that !
I am from Prince Edward Island, on the east coast of Canada. I was in Mayaguez last spring to visit the TARS site. Dr. Brian Irish is no longer the curator of the cacao collection there but it is a pretty amazing place, well worth a visit. Not sure who is in charge of the cacao collection in Mayaguez at the moment.
