Francine,

I'm an American living and farming cacau in Bahia since 1995. My wife is Brazilian, we live full time in our farms and specialize in "cacau fino". Our farms are Fazenda Venturosa and Fazenda Santa Helana which comprise 350 hectares of cacau and an additional 400 hectares of cattle pasture, processing facilities and worker community. The worker population is +- 50 persons and are provided housing, a school and a church. The total population, including children is approximately 80 persons.

Our cacau was exhibited in Paris at The Salon Du Chocolate in 2011 and was awarded a "Cacau of Excellence" premium. The cacau we produce is Forestero and averages 90 tons per year. Our quality control is very rigorous and produces a bean that is highly sought in the market.

If you look in my Chocolate Life page, you will find many photos that depict our operations.

Thanks for your note and invitation to be friends. If you have an occasion to be in Brazil and have an interest in visiting a cacau farm send me an email and we will try to accommodate a tour,

Where in Brazil are you from? How long have you been in the USA? Are you a chocolate chef?

Best regrds

Jim Lucas
