Okay, Jos - I obviously don't know about BitCoin at this level. I will go take a look at Coinbase more closely and see if it makes sense as an alternative or a replacement for PayPal.
Interesting concept about accepting BitCoins, but at this point, with all of the problems with the exchanges (e.g., Mt Gox), it's not a risk I need to take on. Same with Doge Coins. Several millions were stolen from an exchange in the last week or so. And that's just the fraud risk. The value of BitCoin has fluctuated wildly over the past year. I have enough headache dealing with the exchange rate between the USD and the Pound and Euro as it is.
I agree that alternative payment methods make sense, but I am at a loss to find one that does not involve the risks that the crypto-currencies seem to reflect.
By the way Jose , the soil for sprouting I use is sugar cane compost .

Right - so the integration effort and cost of implementing the payment gateway may not be worth the returns.
