I am the General Manager of Finca LA AMISTAD in Costa Rica.
Our Finca is producing in a sustainable way a high quality trinitario Cocoa. We are located in the northern centra region (Bijagua) of Costa Rica, a beautiful and peaceful country in Central America.
Our Finca is neighbored to the beautiful National Park Tenorio. On the roughly 100 ha we produce cocoa on 60ha, 10 ha have been reforested with value timber species, the remaining 30ha are dedicated to biodiversity rich reserves.
We started the cocoa project 9 years ago, the whole plantation is now in full production. In 2012 we won an international award in Paris (Salon de chocolat) for the best cocoa beans in Central America. In the meantime we have made further progress in quality management throughout the value chaine. We started a close cooperation with selected small farm holders in the region who have worked with cacao over the last 20 years and produce old varieties of trinitario in combination with our best trinitario clones as well as pure criollo varieties. Our cooperation with CATIE in Turrialba assures actualized knowledge on best selection of clones.
As we are growing our production we are looking for additional, quality-oriented clients. We strongly believe in direct and longterm trade relationship based on quality, trust and transparency. An example and reference for us is Felchlin AG in Switzerland.
