Direct Cacao will hold its first " Cacao-Chocolate Outreach" conference in the Dominican Republic, 5 - 8 June 2014 .
We would like to bring your attention to this important event, which will help shape the future of the fine chocolate market and create a transparent, sustainable and fair fine cacao market.
We believe Direct Cacao will interest our entrants and judges because it addresses the key issues of how to protect, preserve and develop the fine cacao and fine chocolate markets. Many of the prize-winning entries we’ve had over the last few years have only been possible through the hard work and perseverance of fine cacao growers. If we are to preserve fine cacao for the future, we must build consumer demand for higher priced quality chocolate products, which is a key goal of both the International Chocolate Awards and Direct Cacao.
Conference
Direct Cacao’s "Cacao-Chocolate Outreach" conference will help to build understanding between the cacao and chocolate sectors and explore how we can build better trading networks and get the direct sourcing message through to consumers through labelling. The conference is open to all and will take place in the cacao growing regions of the Dominican Republic, in San Francisco De Macoris over two days, with an additional optional day for a cacao tour and seminars.
The conference will include presentations and discussions about key issues facing fine cacao growers and small-scale chocolate makers and will bring together international experts in the fine cacao-chocolate industry, decision makers, businesses and government representatives. The event will include meetings, workshops, forums, discussions, networking opportunities and a chance to share individual experiences.
